Dr. Schmidt is co-founder of the MIT Press Series on “Cooperative
Information Systems”, the Springer-Verlag Series “Topics in
Information Systems” as well as a founding member of the major
international conference series on “Extending Database Technology
(EDBT)”.
His editorial board activities extend to scientific journals such as
“Information Systems”, “Programming Languages”,
“Data and Knowledge”, “Distributed Computing”
and the newly established “VLDB Journal”.
He serves regularly as a strategic advisor and reviewer for the
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Bonn, the European Community,
Brussels, and the National Science Foundation, Washington, USA.
